I have been having coffee with Bill and other friends on Saturday mornings at Yogi’s for a number of years. We did not know each other in high school, but soon made the connection that we had both been in the Class of ’67 at Paschal. We developed a good friendship over the years. He was a fun, happy, intelligent family man with lots of interesting stories from his career as a civil engineer. His knowledge, understanding, and accumulated wisdom concerning the world around us was always insightful. His dedication to church, family, and community was palpable. His willingness to share his knowledge and wisdom was certainly one of his many kind traits. His sudden loss, of course, is quite a shock to all of us (his friends and staff at Yogi’s), and we will miss him dearly.
A few words of wisdom:
"God's Plan for Aging
Most seniors never get enough exercise. In His wisdom God decreed that seniors become forgetful so they would have to search for their glasses, keys and other things thus doing more walking. And God looked down and saw that it was good.
Then God saw there was another need. In His wisdom, he made seniors lose coordination so they would drop things requiring them to bend, reach and stretch. And God looked down and saw that it was good.
Then God considered the function of bladders and decided seniors would have additional calls of nature requiring more trips to the bathroom, thus providing more exercise. God looked down and saw that it was good.
So if you find as you age, you are getting up and down more, remember it's God’s will. It is all in your best interest even though you mutter under your breath.
